Communication Overview

The Communication module lets you send SMS text messages, emails, and audio call messages to your entire congregation or targeted groups of members — all from within ChurchNET.

Note: Communication is only available to users with App Admin permissions.

Communication Channels

ChurchNET supports three communication channels:

  • SMS — Send text messages to members' phone numbers (powered by Telnyx)
  • Email — Send email messages from noreply@churchnet.app
  • Audio Calls — Record a voice message and deliver it as a phone call

Four-Tab Layout

The Communication screen is organized into four tabs:

  • Send — Compose and send a new message to your congregation or a specific group
  • Inbox — View and reply to SMS conversations with individual members
  • History — Review past campaigns, message logs, and monthly sending totals
  • Groups — Create and manage reusable recipient lists for targeted messaging

Typical Workflow

  1. Open the Communication module from the home screen.
  2. On the Send tab, select a channel (SMS, Email, or Audio Call).
  3. Choose your audience — Everyone (all members) or a specific Communication Group.
  4. Compose your message (or record a voice message for audio calls).
  5. Preview the message and confirm sending.
  6. Track delivery status in the History tab.

How Messages Are Processed

When you send a message, it enters a processing queue and is delivered in the background by the system. You do not need to keep the app open — delivery continues automatically.

Each campaign tracks its status as it progresses: pending, processing, sent, partial (some deliveries failed), or failed.

SMS Opt-Out

Members who have opted out of SMS messages are automatically skipped when sending. You do not need to manually exclude them — the system handles this for you.
