Notification Settings
Notification Settings control how and when volunteers are notified about their assignments.
ChurchNET can automatically send reminders so administrators do not have to manually contact volunteers.
You can create as many notifications as you want.
Delivery Methods
Notifications can be sent using:
- SMS text message (if SMS is enabled for your church)
You may use one or both delivery methods.
When Notifications Are Sent
You can choose when each notification is delivered.
On Publish
Send a message immediately when the schedule goes live.
This informs volunteers they have been assigned.
Scheduled Reminders
Send reminders a specific number of days before the service date.
Examples:
- 7 days before
- 3 days before
- 1 day before
You can create multiple reminders for the same assignment.
Why Use Multiple Notifications
Using reminders helps:
- Reduce missed assignments
- Give volunteers time to plan
- Encourage confirmations
- Decrease last-minute substitute requests
Many churches send one notification when the schedule is published and a reminder closer to the service date.
Important Notes
- SMS notifications require SMS to be enabled on your ChurchNET account
- Volunteers receive notifications only for assignments they are scheduled for
- Notification timing is based on the event date
What’s Next?
If a volunteer cannot serve, they can request a replacement.
Administrators can manage how they are notified in Substitute Request Notification Settings.
